Lielbārži brothers: The world championship round in Madona on 25-26 July is one of the season’s highlights

In less than two months, on 25–26 July 2026, the “Smeceres sils” motocross track in Madona will host one of Latvia’s biggest motorsport events of the summer – a round of the FIM Sidecar Motocross World Championship and, for the first time, a round of the FIM Quad Motocross World Championship.

This means that Latvian motorsport fans will have the opportunity to witness world-class racing in two categories during one action-packed weekend. The organisers remind fans that tickets are available at special early-bird prices until 1 June.

Last year, Madona hosted one of the most attended and emotional rounds of the season, where twin brothers Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži claimed a historic home victory. This year, the riders admit that their home round will once again be

one of the highlights of the season.

“The start of the season has not gone exactly as we had hoped following Daniels’ hand surgery. Rehabilitation takes time, but it is progressing well and according to the doctors’ expectations. With every round, Daniels feels better and better. We have also faced a few technical issues, but we keep looking forward and will fight for every point,” say Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži.

The riders also admit that after the opening rounds of the season, the team clearly understands the areas that still need improvement.

“We know what we still need to work on, but the positive thing is that the speed and potential are there. The season is long, and our goal is to fight for the highest possible positions in every round,” the brothers emphasise.

As the Madona round approaches, international interest in the event continues to grow.

“The Madona round is always special for us because it is our home race. Last year, the atmosphere was incredible and the support from the fans was amazing. Other riders also talk about the ‘Smeceres sils’ track as one of the most interesting circuits of the season. We can feel that many people are looking forward to this event because everyone enjoyed the excellent organisation and fantastic atmosphere,” say Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži.

Meanwhile, the organisers continue to work actively on improving the event infrastructure and spectator experience

“Preparations for the Madona round are ongoing. At the moment, we are actively working on the track and the surrounding area while also addressing the feedback received from visitors after last year’s event. One of the key issues is parking availability and traffic management. In cooperation with LMT, we are also working on improving internet connectivity during the event so that spectators can fully enjoy the experience,” says event organiser Guntis Ķeveris.

The organisers emphasise that this year’s event will be even bigger than last year’s, as the FIM Quad Motocross World Championship will join the Sidecar World Championship programme in Madona for the first time.

“This season the competition is extremely strong, and every round brings very close battles. There will definitely be plenty for the spectators to enjoy. It is especially significant that the championship returns to Madona this summer – it is an important event both for Latvian motocross and for Madona itself, and it proves that the track and the organisers are highly regarded internationally,” add Daniels and Bruno Lielbārži.

Tickets are available online and at all “Biļešu Paradīze” ticket offices. Early-bird prices are available until 1 June.

Parking tickets must be purchased separately.

In addition to world-class motocross action, spectators can also enjoy a cultural and entertainment programme throughout the weekend. On Saturday evening, Rihards Saule & SmartBand will perform on stage, while Sunday’s programme includes the official opening ceremony and an autograph session.
