World Motocross Elite Coming to Madona – Lielbārži Ready to Fight for a Top-3 Spot

24.07.2025

On 16–17 August, the Smeceres sils motocross track in Madona will, for the first time, host a round of the FIM Sidecar Motocross World Championship and the European Quadcross Championship, bringing together more than 60 athletes from 15 countries. This promises to be the most significant motorsport event ever held in the Madona region – with Latvian home favourites Bruno and Daniels Lielbārži competing. The brothers currently sit 5th in the overall standings and have a realistic chance to fight for a place in the season’s Top 3.

“Racing on our home track, with our fans along the sidelines – it’s a great honour. It’s a chance to give our best and fight for a top position. Madona means a lot to us – this is where our professional journey began. It will be truly special to see the world’s motocross elite racing on this track that feels like home,” said Bruno and Daniels Lielbārži.

This will be the 7th round of the World Championship, with riders arriving in Madona following a break after the 6th round held on 19–20 July in Germany, where the Lielbārži brothers celebrated another podium, finishing 2nd overall.

“This is not just another race – it’s a unique moment for Madona and Latvia to prove itself on the world motorsport map. The track is being prepared to meet the highest standards, promising spectators a thrilling motorsport show, while the riders will face a technically challenging and visually spectacular course,” said Race Director Kaspars Ērkulis.

On Saturday, the programme will feature qualifying races for both sidecar motocross and quadcross classes. On Sunday – two sidecar motocross races and two quadcross races will determine the winners. Latvian quad rider Kārlis Neija, who finished 5th overall in last season’s European Championship, will also be among the strong contenders.

On Saturday evening, the motorsport adrenaline will continue with a cultural programme: at 19:00, Lithuanian indie rock band “Colors of Bubbles” will perform, followed at 21:00 by DJ [EX] da Bass in collaboration with cellist Erna Daugaviete.
